Welcome to Whatcom Community Health Insights!
The Whatcom Community Health Insights (WCHI) data platform offers a range of public health data and information on the well-being of Whatcom County’s residents, with a focus on health equity.
The WCHI data platform is not a community health assessment in and of itself. However, it can serve as a tool for evaluating community health, informing either periodic, general assessments or focused assessments of specific health issues. Read the 2018 Community Health Assessment to learn more.
This resource is intended to:
- Assist in understanding the health and well-being of our community – both where there are community health challenges and disparities between groups of people and areas in which we are doing well.
- Support public health leaders, community members, community partners, and organizations in their health improvement efforts.
- Contribute to community health assessments through ongoing data analysis and reporting.
- Enhance community health outcomes and reduce health disparities.
There is so much to learn about our community!
Here are some tips for getting started:

- Click on Whatcom County Demographics to the right for an overview of Whatcom County’s population.
- Review How We Measure Health to see the many factors, or “determinants,” that impact health and well-being.
